Support for Communities
Jambo Roses also runs its own medical clinic at the farm, equipped with medicine used for treating Malaria and other related illnesses. These services are offered free of charge to all the employees, and has been extended to all the people within the local community. We have two full time medical staff that deal with treating patients, and people with severe problems are referred to the bigger hospitals in Entebbe or Kampala.
There is also a nursery for mothers, where they can feed their babies during working hours. We plan on expanding and developing the area into a day care centre for minors between the ages of 1 to 4, and we also provide the local community with road maintenance. Jambo Roses are in the process of putting up a recreation centre to make sure that our workers and the community around can have a place to relax during their free time.
Jambo Roses and its International Buyers and Shareholders, send annual donations to the local school to help with their development. The majority of the employee’s children study at the local school, so with our donations we are saving the children from having to walk several kilometres to reach a nearby government school, which has improved their learning facilities.
We also have our own netball and football team that participate in matches. They have won numerous games within the district, making them local heroes.
